Forza Horizon 6 launches today — what’s new
The Forza Horizon 6 launch is live worldwide as of 12:00 AM ET on May 19, 2026, day-one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Playground Games’ Japan-set entry ships with 550+ cars, a Tokyo region roughly five times the size of FH5’s Guanajuato, and three parallel progression systems: Wristbands, the Collection Journal, and the returning Festival Playlist.
What’s new
- Setting: all of Japan, across 10 regions, anchored by Tokyo City and Mt. Fuji.
- Cars: 550+ at launch, with the new R class slotted between S2 and X under Performance Index 2.0.
- Progression: Wristbands (7 tiers, Yellow → Gold) unlock activity tiers; the Collection Journal tracks exploration; the Festival Playlist returns for weekly cars.
- Events: Touge Battles (1v1 night mountain races), Horizon Rush, Spec Racing, and Drag Meets.
- Multiplayer: EventLab CO-LAB with up to 12 players, Touge Showdown, and cross-save between Xbox, PC, and (post-launch) PS5.
Why it matters
This is the largest Horizon launch on record by car count and map size, and the first to ship with cross-save across all three platforms once PS5 arrives later in 2026. Game Pass day-one keeps the entry bar low; the Premium Edition’s main pitch is the 4-day early access and bundled DLC (Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion, Time Attack, and two future expansions).
